Evaluation of Internet Training Classes

Auburn High School, April - May, 1996

This survey was given to 43 adults who were learning how to use the internet. They attended one of several evening classes offered in the April-May time-frame at the Auburn High and Middle School Community Training Center. The following scale was used to evaluate questons 1-9.

Version 1 - Open Questions

  1. What did you find most beneficial about this course?
    1. very good introductory class. I'll see just how beneficial it is when I get an account with NRVnet.
    2. learning internet
    3. individual assistance
    4. computers to use for hands on
    5. everything! I especially liked the step by step instructions. The trainers were helpful, encouraging and delightful.
    6. Just to see what exactly could be done on the computer with the Web.
    7. The helpful information - not to be afraid of the machine  
  2. What can we do in the future to improve the course?
    1. offer on a different night instead of just Thursday
    2. NOTHING
    3. perhaps more very basic definitions - for example - what is a browser, server, search engine & the differences
    4. would like advanced course
    5. make the time earlier - possibly 6 or 6:30 p.m.
    6. just keep expanding options  
  3. If you could give some advice to the trainers, what would it be?
    1. They were great
    2. Keep up the super work!
    3. Thanks for being so cooperative with beginners and staying on the appropriate level.

    1. perhaps have telephone numbers or application forms to NRVnet or similar. Very good.

    6. This is a great idea to give the community an opportunity to become involved - especially with schools if they have children.

    1. using the overheads for us to follow
    2. number of pages of handouts - thank you for your time

    6. covered an awful lot very quickly - us old people are slow
    7. my first introduction - very informative. The course met my expectations. I have enjoyed and would welcome another class, soon with Kat and Dean. Thank you.

    1. approached at a beginners level, taught at night, free
    2. comfortable with the system and searching
    3. the experience of playing freely with the computer, even though it was baffling!
