Eudora Version 5.1
- Launch the Eudora application.
- From the menu bar of Eudora, click on "Tools", then select
"Options" sub-menu item. This brings up the "Options"
window.
- Click on the "Getting Started" icon on the "Options"
window.
- In the field provided, enter your "Real Name".
- In the field labeled "Return Address" you must enter your BEV
email address. For example, johndoe@bev.net. If this is not set, then
replies to your messages may not be addressed correctly.
- In the field labeled "Mail Server (Incoming)", you must enter: pop.bev.net
- In the field labeled "Login Name" you must enter your BEV.NET mail username.
For example, johndoe.
- In the field labeled "SMTP Server (Outgoing)" you must enter your
SMTP server hostname.
- Click on the icon labeled "Checking Mail" icon.
Near the bottom of the window, look for "Secure Sockets when
Receiving", change the option in the dropdown from "Required, alternate
port" to "If available, STARTTLS"
Important: failure to set the above option may result in Eudora complaining:
"Cannot connect to pop.bev.net"
- Click the "OK" button near the lower right corner of the "Options"
window to save your changes.
The next time you check your email, Eudora should use your new settings.
