MS Outlook Express
- Open Outlook Express using its icon or by clicking on the "Mail"
button on the toolbar of MS Internet Explorer.
- From the menu bar of the Mac desktop, click on "Edit", then select
"Preferences" sub-menu item.
- This brings up the "Preferences" window. On the left side is a
list of headings. Select the "Accounts" heading, then click on the
bulleted sub-heading "E-mail". The right three-quarters of the Preferences
window should reflect the settings for the default mail acct used by Outlook
Express.
- Change or add the pertinent information. In the first frame, labeled "Account
Information" fill in your "Full Name" and "Organization"
as you wish it to appear on outgoing mail. Enter or modify the "E-mail
Address" field to contain your BEV mail address. For example: johndoe@bev.net
- Under the frame labeled "Sending Mail", in the field marked "SMTP
server", enter your SMTP server hostname
- Under the frame labeled "Receiving Mail", enter your "Account
ID" in all lower case letters. The "Account ID" is the same
as the first part of your email address. For example, johndoe. Next,
modify the "POP Server" field to read: pop.bev.net . Lastly, enter
your password in lower case.
- Click OK to save your changes.
- The next time you check your email, Outlook Express should use the new settings.
NOTE: If you dont see the field "POP Server" under the "Receiving
Mail" frame or if you have multiple email accounts and wish to setup a
separate configuration for your BEV net email account, then you can add another
configuration under Outlook Express.
- Follow the intstructions above through step 3.
- Then, press the "New Account" button near the top center of the
"Preferences" window. This brings up a small "New Account"
dialog box.
- Enter an Outlook Express name for this account configuration in the "Account
name" field. For example: BEV Email account
- Under "Account Type" there are two options to choose from, select
POP. Note: The IMAP account type will not work with your BEV account.
- Click OK and the dialog box disappears and returns focus to the "Preferences"
window.
- Continue to follow the instructions above from step 4 onward.
