Listserv Instructions
In order to maximize your use of the BEV Community Connections Listserv, simply
use the following commands.
All listserv mail must be directed to BEV Community Connections Requests: requests@listserv.bburg.bev.net
Commands must be placed in the body of the message.
EXAMPLE:
TO: requests@listserv.bburg.bev.net
SUBJECT:
CC:
BODY OF MESSAGE:
subscribe list_name
If you have trouble:
- Make sure your email client is set to send plain text mail. HTML or enriched
text may confuse the listserv.
- Supress any signature from being attached to the message.
The following commands are accepted:
help
Help will return a document similar to this guide.
lists
This command returns a list of the available mailing lists you may subscribe
to.
info list_name
Info returns information about the specified list.
subscribe list_name
Adds your address to the list of subscribers. You can then send messages to
the list. If you were subscribed to the digest version of the list, you are
removed from the digest subscription list.
subscribe digest list_name
Adds your address to the list of subscribers. You can then send messages to
the list. If you were subscribed to the normal version of the list, you are
removed from the normal subscription list.
unsubscribe list_name
Your address is removed from the list of subscribers or digest subscribers.
You will no longer receive messages or digests and will no longer be able to
send messages to the list.
Administration of Listserv
When your mail list has been activated you will receive a listserv password.
In order to work with your subscription list you will need to use your password
to send email commands to the Listserv. requests@listserv.bburg.bev.net
- Only the password should be in the subject.
- Each line can contain a command.
- Do not include extra spaces anywhere in a command line.
- The command can be in upper or lower case.
If you have trouble:
- Make sure your email client is set to send plain text mail. HTML or enriched
text may confuse the listserv.
- Supress any signature from being attached to the message or use the "quit"
command (see below).

The following commands are accepted:
subscribe subscriber_email_address
Adds Address to the list of subscribers. If the address is already in the digest
list, it is first removed from the digest list. If the address is already in
the subscriber list, it is not added. Name is optional.
digest subscriber_email_address
Adds Address to the list of subscribers to the digest. If the address is already
in the subscriber list, it is first removed from the subscriber list. If the
address is already in the digest list, it is not added. Name is optional.
unsubscribe subscriber_email_address
Removes the address from the subscription list and/or the digest list.
count
Returns the number of subscribers on the normal subscription and the digest
subscription.
change Old_email_address New_email_address
Changes the address of a subscriber on either the subscription list or the digest
list. Name is optional.
find FindString
Returns a list of the subscribers with email addresses that contain FindString.
who
Returns a list of subscribers and digest subscribers. A separate message is
sent for each list of subscribers. Lists of greater than 5,000 subscribers are
not returned.
help
Returns this help message.
quit
Stops further processing of the message. This allows a signature to be ignored.
