MedlinePlus Drug Information
The National Library of Medicine's MedlinePlus program offers information on
thousands of drugs based on the databases of Medmaster™ and the USP DI®
Advice for the
Patient®. It provides links to the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) Warnings and
Recalls site, and medication safety information. People looking for help identifying
on-going clinical research studies will also find useful links on this page.
Consumer Drug Information
The FDA's Consumer Drug Information site provides information on the most
recently approved drugs in the United States. A downloadable information sheet
is available for each of these medications. Patients will find these sheets useful
in talking with their physicians, pharmacist, and other health care providers.
AARP
This site, sponsored by AARP, formerly known as the American Association of Retired Persons,
provides a wealth of information on medications and their safe use.
The website offers information on the
use of generic drugs, medication costs, and links to many other resources.
The AARP is one of the most active organizations seeking to develop and
support legislation that will enable Americans to affordable access the medications
that they need. The AARP also offers its members opportunities to purchase their
medications at reduced prices.
Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) is the main government agency responsible for improving the safety of medical care in the United States. This website provides a free, downloadable consumer booklet, designed to help you better understand how to use medications safely.

Need to learn more about your non-prescription (over-the-counter) medications?
