The Virginia Tech Department of Theatre and Cinema presents The Laramie Project and The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later. In 1998, after a heinous and deadly hate crime against a college student in Laramie, Wyoming, members of the Tectonic Theater Project traveled to the town. Their mission was to collect interviews with locals in the aftermath of the national media swarm surrounding the event. The Laramie Project is made up of news reports and monologues from those interviews, as it explores themes of violence and prejudice against homophobia. The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later revisits the town in 2008 to interview the same residents featured in the first play. For ticket information and performance dates and times see VT School of Performing Arts Events.
